Carolyn Steinbuck, well known as pianist, conductor, and teacher, recently rocked Cotton Auditorium with a bravura performance of Shostakovich's wild piano concerto. Mr. Kardarauch, Principal Cellist of the San Francisco Opera Orchestra for the last thirty-seven years, is a graduate of the Curtis Institute and the Vienna Academy, and was a prize winner in the 1970 Prague International Competition for Violoncello. |

By popular demand, we are again presenting the cellist with the golden tone, Burke Schuchman, and Jannie Lo, the extraordinary pianist who thrilled audiences last year. This time, they are performing as a trio with violin prodigy George Hayes. The Trio will perform piano trios by Brahms and others.

Alexander Quartet September 30, 2012 3:00 p.m.
Very fortunately, we were again able to present the famed Alexander Quartet. By special request, the quartet performed Beethoven's difficult masterpiece, Opus #130. Beethoven called this work, with its passionately sad cavatina, his favorite quartet and, in fact, called it "Liebquartett," or "Dear Quartet." Also on the program, Mozart's String Quartet, K. 590 and Shostakovich's String Quartet No. 7.
